- Celebrating Fathers

If you are, have or know a father, it's imperative that you know how valuable that role is to any society. So this is me saying I appreciate you. We all do. And since it's Father's Day in some parts of the world, it is pertinent that you're told.

The work of a father can never be undermined. You are one of the pillars of society, because just like mothers you are responsible for building successful families. And successful families define successful societies. Hence the importance of a father. In other words, if you're reading this and haven't told your father or as a woman your husband who is also a father just how important he is, especially when he's been good to you and others, you're cheating him, and so you should so.

I grew up not being able to completely express my feelings to others. For instance, I couldn't tell anyone "I love you" not even my father; and I do love him. Hopefully, I'll do that really soon. Thank God he's well and alive, so it's not too late to. But seriously, I do love him. He's a good man, a caring man. You may not always understand his methods but it's evident that he is. He loves his family and easily learns to love strangers.

When I was younger, he would take in anyone that needed help, and thus helped a lot of people; some of whom never showed gratitude, yet he didn't stop doing it. That's the kind of person he is. Even if he had just a whitespace to lay his head, he'd never hesitate to invite a stranger in need to come share it. Back then, I use to think he was a yes man; could never say no, like it was some weakness from his end. But goodness is never weakness. It may not seem ideal especially when abused, yet it isn't. If anything, it is the truest sign of our union with God. Of how much we are just like Him. 

So, tell me, how can I not celebrate such a man as that on a day like this? I know you have people just like that who've impacted you positively. I realize not all fathers in the world have been perfect or close, but that doesn't mean we deprive those who try to be of whatever appreciation they deserve. With that said, I'd like to wish my dad and every other great father out there a Happy Father's Day, and may the good Lord continually bless you. Amen.
