Overcoming Worry

DAILY VITAMIN

- Overcoming Worry

"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me." (John 14:1)

The remedy to worry is faith.

Trusting that everything will be as God said it would be. If you notice you'd see that I never referred to how you feel, because your feelings will betray you. The reason why you worry in the first place is because of your feelings. Your natural response to all the stimuli affecting you right now. You're sad because you feel everything is choking you. And you're happy when you feel you are beginning to sense relief. It's all about your feelings. But now, I'm talking about something that goes beyond feelings. Something that is constant regardless of what happens around you.

And that's faith.

The scripture calls faith the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). It's like a promissory note that assures you that your bill will be paid no matter what you order. Faith is God saying a thing is a way even when it seems to appear the other way and you choosing to believe Him. That alone takes the stress of fear out of your life; you know why? Because you know God is greater than all your fears.

This is why to truly have faith, you must conclusively believe that God is who He says He is (Hebrews 11:6). Until you do, you'd always fear circumstances more than you trust Him. But when you do, you'd never have a need to worry, because you will be sure that in a storm, calm is only a call away.

So, make that a life style. Make calling on God in difficult times and trusting Him to prove His word in your life a habit. I know that God never fails anyone who truly trusts in Him. He says they will be like Mount Zion that remains forever (Psalm 125:1). Hence, refuse to worry. Choose to trust; because indeed none that trust in Him shall be desolate (Psalm 34:22).
