Live While You Still Can

- Live While You Still Can
"Vanity upon vanity; all is vanity" (Eccl 1:2)
Is everything truly meaningless?
Maybe; maybe not. But definitely not the rare moments that made you smile even when nothing around could dare you to. Those aren't vain. Those are the stuff of dreams. And even Solomon knew that sometimes these are the only things we can truly get out of a life that appears gruesome that makes it worth it all.
So I'll tell you this:
We spend our entire lives trying to understand what life is really all about. We are told a lot of things from the day we are born, at school, and with each new person we meet but at the end of it all realize that these definitions don't just cut it. There's still an emptiness that oftentimes stays, because we've only been seeing a crescent, and never the whole. We've never been full. We've played a part, but never lived because somehow we always feel that way. Like a fish on land. So still the asking continues, the searching never ends, waiting and waiting hoping we would one day learn to realize what living is.
So, I'm just going to say this:
Life is simply numbers and moments. Thank God for the faith to walk in union with Him every day, but in the surface that is the summary of life. Numbers and moments. However, everything numerical about us changes: from our age to the achievements we earn. These are constants that define only a few things about us. We are born, we grow up, we become something, and die regardless of our faith. What truly defines us are the moments. The experiences in-between. The moments that stay ever new. Like the friendships that lasted an entire lifetime. Or the ones that just begun as windows of life began to close. You pretty much might not even remember what created that bond in the first place; all you know is how much you adored these persons. And the periods you've all shared together. The periods you smiled and what made it happen. The days you cried and why you had to.
These small, "insignificant" things are what makes it all special. These unforgettable happenings are the raw tools that actually shape our existence and give our faith and life itself a meaning. Beyond being born and dying, that's all that makes life worth experiencing. These moments -- no matter how painful or exhilarating. Because it's in this moments we truly learn who we really are.
So, don't make the mistake of thinking it doesn't matter. The mistake that being spiritual should deprive you of such moments. No; actually being spiritual gives a better reason to have them. There's so much God wants us to experience on the earth, things we'll never experience in heaven, because they stay here on the earth. Hence, don't take the crescent, pursue the whole. Enjoy your friendships, your family, and make moments worth remembering. Worth dying for, Worth being reborn for. Worth everything. Feel. Feel things, because until your heart learns to feel, it can never be as large as God wants it to be.
Live my friend. Even if this is the last thing you learn from me: Live.
Miss you sir!!
