Why God Blessed You

- Why God Blessed You

"Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and should give happily to those in need, always being ready to share with others whatever God has given them." (1 Timothy 6:18 TLB)

In Jesus' words, we are made to be lights. And to live as light is to add value to the lives of those around us. Look at the sun for instance. Freely sustaining plants and animals alike. Well, we are the sun of the world as Jesus was. He sustained and still sustains. Which is what He did while on earth. He met not only the spiritual needs of people, but their primary need as well. He fed the hungry if He met them in their hunger, comforted the mourning. He was everything they needed Him to be in order to fully express the love of God. Now the same is required of us.

We were blessed to be blessings to many. This is what God meant when He declared we shall lend to nations and not borrow (Deuteronomy 28:11-12). The surplus blessings He's given you is to help these nations. Consider the story of the rich fool. He sought to keep the surplus and was judged for it. Having surplus wasn't the problem, but failing to understand why he had been given that abundance was.

Thus, why is it important that we understand why we've been given this unfathomable abundance?

1. The most effective way to win people to the Kingdom is by showing them an ample demonstration of God's love. Hence, Jesus told us if your neighbour comes to you at night for help, don't tell him to wait or pray, rather He advised that if within our reach we should give him what he needs. Because it will lead to him glorifying God in our behalfs. Paul wrote that God will give us much more than we need so we give some away, and that when we do the recipients would praise God and finally have a proof that we live in the exact light as we preach (2 Corinthians 9:11-14). So we give to reveal our godliness; for as I've always said generosity is the greatest expression of godliness. God so loved He gave; when we love as He does we'd give as well, cheerily.

2. God is a giver. The Bible says He freely gives. And as His children, we must learn to be just like Him, because in our new spiritual nature we are, we only must demonstrate the same in our physical world. Moreso, we are custodians of His blessings, conduits of His power. We are not the owners, only caretakers. And if God is determined to use us as a medium to bring relief to those among us, it becomes a great wrong if we choose not to. So, understand that by nature you are a giver. And once you do, start practicing it

Why am I emphasizing on this today? Because there are millions of people that need to be helped and then us who must try to help them. If I had the means I will singlehandedly make it my life goal to do that till I leave this world. On this same platform,  I've written about my plans to found a charity organization for this purpose. But I don't. At least not right now, and not monetarily. However, I believe that our purpose is to be a means of help to those in need of help. Like Jesus, who went around helping as many as He could (Acts 10:38). Those we can help without the aid of money we do, but those who must be helped with the use of funds, we must also do. So, I'm calling for partners. In our localities there are those who need help, both Christians and non-Christians, and our designation is to be lights toward them so that they might return with praise to the Father (Matthew 5:14-16). To demonstrate and distribute God's love among them in words and in deeds. Therefore, if you would like to be a partner, please contact me using the contact form in the menu bar. However, it's also okay if you don't. What really matters is that we do the Lord's bidding and shine bright enough in words and deeds till others can feel the wholesome touch of God's love through us.
