Think Right

DAILY VITAMIN

- Think Right

"As a man thinketh in his heart so is he..." (Proverbs 23:7)

We are products of our thoughts. It's the mechanism by which we are made, either for good or bad. Like a cascade, we choose what we think and accept, and then in return they decide what we become. So it is true that a man can never be bigger than what he thinks he is, because his thoughts are a scale by which he's weighed and therefore perceived, even if by no one else, by himself. As a result, it doesn't matter what others may say about you, what matters first is what you say of yourself. Because that's what you'd reflect, and therefore is the fuel that determines whether or not you stand a chance, no matter how little.

In other words, if others say you're not good enough and you think maybe they're right that you're not good enough, then believe me you are not good enough, not because you are actually not good enough but because you accept that you are not good enough. We are what we accept we are because we tend to become it in real time.  "No one can ever love," some might say and end up alone, not because no one approaches them, but that even when someone does, they find a way to ruin it all. Why? Because inside of them, they don't believe they deserve a life filled with unconditional love. Thus, if you're in that category of persons or the likes, you've got to switch your mindset today. You've got to open your heart and make it fertile to receive the best things you once thought could never be yours. And this starts by changing the way you think.

Our theme scripture says that as you think of yourself within yourself so are you. David said a man can be in honour but if he lacks this understanding of whom he is, he'd end up perish like something less of a man (Psalm 49:20). You see, the truth is that power isn't in what you have, it's in what you know you have. And in the same light, the devil isn't scared of what you have, he's scared of what he knows you have. As long as you don't know about it, he's got no problem; because people are oftentimes not destroyed by mere lack of resources, but most times than not the lack of knowledge of those resources. Why else do you think the devil had the guts to go tempt Christ and didn't leave until Jesus reminded him of who He was, thereby putting him in his place. So believe me, having isn't enough, without knowing you do you've got nothing. For instance, a homeless man could have a million bucks willed to you, but if he doesn't know about it he might still be sleeping on a flea-bag the rest of the year.

It's the same way with our thoughts. We are more of what we think we are than what we really are on the outside. Therefore, David prayed, "Let the...meditations of my heart be acceptable..." (Psalm 19:14).

Thus, I ask you: What are your thoughts about yourself right now? Who do you think you are? What do you think you are worth? Do you think you are nothing but all you've ever been? No, my friend. I don't care if in the past you were, let's say, a drug addict, now that you are saved you are something else. Something better. At least that's what God says about you. He calls you a god; a child of the Most High (Psalm 82:6). Yet He says your lack of understanding about this might lead to your living an ordinary life (v. 5,7). You weren't made for the ordinary. Jesus said greater things than this shall you do (John 14:12). That's extraordinary living. But if you don't believe it, accept it, it will never be.

It's time to change the way you think. It's time to start thinking how God does. To start seeing yourself as He does. Stop judging yourself as others do, judge yourself as God does. He says you're blessed, that you are highly favoured, that you are the image of Christ. You are not your old self, you are a new creature indeed. Think like one.
