Be Patient With God

DAILY VITAMIN

- Be Patient With God

“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way…” (Psalm 37:7)

Many times we believe we should be rewarded big time, now, for all we do in and for the Kingdom, but that’s where we fail to understand how the Kingdom works. Which is exactly what the prodigal son’s brother also failed to understand.

In Mark 10:29-30, Jesus said that such a fellow shall receive a hundred fold of all he deserves even in this world. However, 1 Peter 5:10 says after he may have suffered a while. The term suffering is relative; but God’s promise is the same. What He has prepared for you, both in this world and the next, is too stupendous for you to comprehend (Jeremiah 29:11). It might not seem as such right now, considering all you’d had to go through, but trust Him HE will come through for you. It might take some while, but He won’t be late. He will show up at the appointed time.

The prodigal son’s brother watched how the other fellow got away with his excesses, abusing the Father’s grace and upon his return how he was honoured with a great feast. Witnessing this, the chap felt betrayed and underappreciated. In his frustration, he approached the Father and confronted him on the matter; but the Father replied “You are ever with me, and all that is mine is yours” (Luke 15:31).

Did you see that? The young man wasn’t seeing the entire picture; seeing himself as rejected when he was always in the Father’s favour; seeing himself as unrewarded when he had all the treasures in his name; as in need when all things pertaining to life and godliness had been willed to him. Which is exactly what we may have been doing as well feeling all rejected, unrewarded and abandoned. 2 Peter 1:3-4 says God has willed all things that pertain to a life of glory and virtue to us. So listen to me: God has not abandoned you. He will help you. He will renew your strength (Isaiah 40:28-31). He will keep you from falling, and in His time will make a thousand times victor out of you. He will ensure you overcome where you lack and rejoice again. All I ask is that you be patient with Him. All I ask is that you trust Him (Habakkuk 3:17-19).

Thus, will you?
