Find Your Spark Again

DAILY VITAMIN

- Find Your Spark Again

“For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon you, and His glory shall be seen upon you.” (Isaiah 60:2)

This is one of the toughest periods in modern history: economic collapses in major countries, public health catastrophes—the pandemic and all, and then there’s the fact that recently there have been a mass suffrage of sudden depression by lots of people, possibly even yourself right now; but worse is that because of this people are beginning to lose faith in themselves. And that’s something crises as such do to you.

The above scripture uses the term “the darkness”, connoting an entity and not the opposite of daylight. In other words, evil forces who by the advent of certain events push many into emotional conundrums that leave them in gross darkness—which can be said to mean the absence of light/joy in a man. Give or take, depression borne from certain disappointments.

You see, disappointment cast shadows on potentials. When you fail often, you’re liable to cease believing all you always knew to be possible—including the dream of becoming the best version of yourself. You start to doubt, accepting to become whatever it is that’s left. But leftovers aren’t for children of God as Jesus rightly pointed out; so even your life shouldn’t be a product for what’s left.

We have all been in that rabbit hole; but ironically a lot of people let the temporary absence of hope keep them there. You mustn’t. I understand you might be depressed, tired and burnt out, but you mustn’t give up, lose hope, run out of steam or quench the fire that made the devil set his eye on you in the very first place, because that’s where the glory lies. For instance, consider Moses and Jesus. When the devil couldn’t take them out as babies, he tried discouraging them from believing in whom they were as men. He keeps coming till we tap out one way or the other. But Jesus didn’t. Moses didn’t either, thanks to God. Now consider if it had worked; if they had given up; we possibly wouldn’t be here, for sure. So, don’t give up.

Life is a match with no end. Winner and losers are named only by submission. As long as you don’t give up nor give in to these trying times, the devil can’t claim victory over you. It doesn’t matter how deep you are in the miry clay, your willingness to keep fighting and believing to become whom God says you are will keep you from sinking. And how do you do this? By remembering. Remembering who God says you are. Affirming it daily until you find yourself believing it wholly again and acting in its light. It will start as a simple spark and then becomes a bonfire that clears the darkness and shadows of doubt in your path. At this point, resume doing what God has led you to do, and you’ll certainly end up where He wants you to be.

I believe there’s more to you regardless of how bad things might seem right now, and I know because (1) Nothing lasts, not even evil days; and (2) God doesn’t lie. If He told you you’re big, you’re big. But to live big, first you’ve got to accept it for yourself. And in doing so, find that spark of bigness you know lies within.

I apologize for my long absence, but if this be the last thing you hear me say, take it firmly:

Awake little one, rise from the ash, illuminate.
