Life Is God's School

- Life Is God's School

"Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation." (Joel 1:3 NIV)

The Bible tells us that everything written is for our learning (Romans 15:4), but the actual fact is that everything that happens is for our learning. When God healed you from that infirmity after struggling with it for years, it wasn't to teach the devil never to mess with you again or to teach how much of His beloved you are.

No! It was to teach YOU how much of God He truly is. A lot of us believe we know God, but do we really? Yes we know He is the King of kings but do we really see Him as King of kings at all times? The sincere answer is an ironic no, and every day He does us the privilege of reminding us about that. David wrote "God hath spoken once, Twice have I heard this, That power belongeth unto God" (Psalm 62:11). And here's  how he learned that.

In 1 Samuel 17 after he conquered the giant, leading Israel to a might victory, it is said that God did all that so that Israel will learn that the LORD does not depend on weapons to fulfill his plans--he works without regard to human means! He will give you to us! (v. 47 TLB). And the prophet Isaiah capped it by saying, "[God speaking]...I will do it by my mighty power that reaches everywhere around the world. The Lord, the God of battle, has spoken--who can change his plans? When his hand moves, who can stop him?" (Isaiah 14:26-27 TLB).

In other words, when God healed you, it was so that you will learn to truly believe the limitlessness of His power. What those expensive drugs couldn't do all along, He performed in a flicker just to drive home that point--his mighty power reaches all. So, next time something similar happens, you'd say to yourself, "Duh! He did this before, He'd do it now," proving Psalm 46 true in our own lives. And God does so in order to impart us with faith. This knowledge is what brings faith; and the faith it brings is what leads us to the perfect life He designed us for.

Hence, we are all in a school called life; God is the teacher, and if we'd stay focused, we'd learn that that singular curriculum is to stand still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10).
