Don't Let Satan Distract You

DAILY VITAMIN

- Don't Let Satan Distract You

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." (James 4:7)

Satan's game plan is to keep the believer so distracted that they forget all about what God had told them. And he tried the same with Paul with a unique technique. Paul had just been through the worst storm in centuries, and although prior to this time God's Word had come to him that he would come out unscathed and eventually get to Rome, but as soon as he landed on shore, another adversity began.

A snake stuck fast to him. It was enough to have him complain or doubt God. God knows I have had my own share of such reactions. "God! Why is this happening to me? Is it that you enjoy seeing me in these troubles?" But Paul didn't whine, instead he shook off the serpent and continued with what he was told (Acts 28:5).

Here's the mystery; because of that singular act, the whole village opened up for Christ message. Now imagine if he had whined instead. What do you think would have happened? In the same way, the devil keeps trying to shatter our focus from God; he keeps bringing these distractions to keep us unfocused so as to miss God's plan. Don't let him by whining, instead trust God's Word to you. Eventually it will prove true, because at the end all storms will calm and the sky will clear again. You are just one act of trust away from your biggest testimony so far; thus don't let him steal that from you. Recall 1 Peter 5:8-10. "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast." (GideonsUK).

Ignore the devil, and when you do that, your settlement is sure. Do the first, and he won't be able to stop the second.
