Peace Even In The Storm

DAILY VITAMIN

- Peace Even In The Storm

“Be still, and know that I am God; ... I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." (Psalm 46:10 NIV)

There are a lot of things Jesus couldn't teach His disciples while He was yet with them because they weren't prepared for it, so He let the Holy Spirit teach them with each event they experienced. he did this because truth must be fed to others in proportion to their level of preparedness. This is important because while the truth can set one free, it can also kill when received unready. And one of these secrets was the ability to be calm in the midst of chaos.

Jesus already told them He had granted them such peace (John 14:27, 16:33), but they never experienced it until they had grown to understand it. Can you imagine the boat nearly full of water and Jesus was still asleep? That's what I call peace even in the storm, and it's what He offers us. It is not a promise, it is a given; but unless you understand this, you can't actualize it. He said to them, "Why were you so fearful? Don't you even yet have confidence in me?" (Mark 4:40 TLB). So, it takes knowledge to experience peace.

The knowledge of faith. That is how you realize all the virtues that has been showered on you to enjoy the very best of life (2 Peter 1:3-4). That's the only way you can be calm when the rent is nearly due. That's how you can be without panic when diagnosed of a terminal illness. The knowledge that you are on the same boat with the God who calms storms. That knowledge is where peace rises from-- the kind of peace the world can never truly know because they know Him not. Consider Paul's experience in Acts 27:21-26: He was very sure of how things would end in his favour even though they were trapped in the storm. And what made that possible? His knowledge of faith in God.

So, is life presently seeming hard and harsh to you? Know that He who assures us of a better future (Job 8:7) resides in and with you. Zephaniah 3:16-19 says "On that day they will say to Jerusalem, “Do not fear, Zion; do not let your hands hang limp. The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” “I will remove from you all who mourn over the loss of your appointed festivals, which is a burden and reproach for you. At that time I will deal with all who oppressed you. I will rescue the lame; I will gather the exiles. I will give them praise and honor in every land where they have suffered shame."

Thus, you are not alone; therefore even in this storm, be at peace.
