Remind God Of His Promise

DAILY VITAMIN

- Remind God Of His Promise

"Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified." (Isaiah 43:26)

We are told to put God to remembrance. In fact, another translation used the sentence "Remind Me, let us argue the matter together. State your case, so that you may be vindicated" to describe the intensity of the matter before the Lord. But my question to you is 'do you think God ever forgets?'

The Bible says He doesn't sleep nor slumber, and all the worlds are in His hand. Furthermore, we know He is all-knowing, and that makes forgetting impossible. Then why are we told to do that in our theme scripture?

In Exodus 6. the Bible says "...now I have heard the groanings of the people of Israel, in slavery now to the Egyptians, and I remember my promise." (v.5 TLB); but sincerely was it their cries that made God remember? Maybe it didn't make God remember, but it did move Him to act. Remember, ask and you shall receive. They had spent thirty extra years in slavery, and only when they prayed about it did a resolution come.

We see another example in Hezekiah. He was told he would die, but he didn't keep quiet, he reminded God of His promise to him, and fifteen years was added to his life.

If he had kept quiet, would he have died? Yes, he would; for we saw how Ahaziah died after Elijah delivered God's message to him.

Hence, don't keep shut, keep speaking to the LORD of His promises. Though He is not forgetful, yet He requires us to be persistent in prayer. Recall Luke 18:8; He will answer speedily those who do not stop to call unto Him day and night. So, don't give up, take it all to Him in prayer always.
