Praising God Through The Pain

DAILY VITAMIN

- Praising God Through The Pain

"Even though the fig trees are all destroyed, and there is neither blossom left nor fruit; though the olive crops all fail, and the fields lie barren; even if the flocks die in the fields and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will be happy in the God of my salvation." (Habakkuk 3:17-18 TLB)

Philippians 3:1 says "Whatever happens, dear friends, be glad in the Lord." Most times we don't understand the extremity of some of the things we find in scripture. For instance, when we read things like "And Abraham staggered not through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God." (Romans 4:20), a lot of us assume " Well, anybody could have done that!"

Well, guess what? It can be done, but anybody can. It takes a man who trusts God beyond the face of circumstances to be able to praise Him through the pain. Do you know how it feels to be barren? Unless you are or have been for a while. you can't equate what Sarah and Abraham felt. Do you know how it feels to have to have to wait for a promise for years? Well, it can get painful oftentimes.

Another story we don't fully appreciate is Paul and Silas episode in prison. We simply just celebrate the fact that they prayed and sang and that heaven responded, but forget the real underlying factor. The Bible said they whipped on their bare backs before being thrown in jail. Have you ever had open bruises and still had to wear a clothe upon it? If you have, you'd know that you would experience sensational pains every time they come in contact; yet through that pain they praised God through the night. And God didn't fail them, because He doesn't (psalm 9:10). In the same way, you've got to trust Him enough to praise Him amidst the pain; and if you don't have a good reason yet, know this: "The Lord's promise is sure. He speaks no careless words." (Psalm 12:6 TLB).
