DAILY VITAMIN

- Perfectly Joined Together

"Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment" (1 Corinthians 1:10)

In Philippians 4, Paul gave a stern warning to the Saints. He said "I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord" (v. 2). Those two fellows represent the many Christians that live in strife one toward the other.

So through Paul, God wasn't just speaking to two Greeks, He was speaking to the entire body of Christ. And that's because He wants unity amongst us. Jesus said "That they all may be one, as thou, Father art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us... " (John 17:21). And being one was exactly what Paul described in our theme scripture.

He said that we may speak the same thing (one Gospel, with no disparities in faith), and that there be no divisions (maybe denominations due to degree of faith, but each working together as one) perfectly joined in one mind and judgment (on the basis of the Word of God). Our inactivity in this is what has led to many's inactivity towards God's will. And this is the reason why it seems like we are pulled apart by the easiest persecution, because while the string might break, a multiple stringed cord is not easily broken.

Unity is what fosters our strength in the Lord. David said unity is good and pleasant; for it is where God commands His blessing and superior living (Psalm 133:1-3). And we have evidence in Acts 4. The scriptures say that they were of one mind in prayer and possession, and there was great grace upon them, such that they went out in boldness and had no lack in anything (v. 31-35). The world couldn't impede their progress for the Lord so long as they were one. Since one is indivisible on all grounds.

So let's stop seeing others as strangers for not being part of our local assembly, for "... We being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Be kindly affectioned to one another with brotherly love" (Romans 12:5,10). Hence, let God start today with you.
