You Have Passed Over Condemnation (2)

DAILY VITAMIN

- You Have Passed Over Condemnation (2)

"But [like a boxer] I buffet my body [handle it roughly, discipline it by hardships] and subdue it, for fear that after proclaiming to others the Gospel and things pertaining to it, I myself should become unfit [not stand the test, be unapproved and rejected as a counterfeit]." (1 Corinthians 9:27 AMP)

At New Birth, our spirit was redeemed and regenerated to carry the life of God in it; and with that and by its renewal through the Word by the Holy Spirit our soul is brought into oneness with God. However for our body, it can't be redeemed, for it is corruptible. Little wonder why the scripture says it must die though our spirit lives (Romans 8:10) till we put on the incorruptible.

But even though it cannot be redeemed, it can be controlled. You see, the actions of our bodies are a function of whom we wield ourselves to. The Bible says if to sin, then we shall live in displeasure to God, but if in obedience, then we shall live in righteousness unto holiness (Romans 6:17). And it is always within our capacity to choose to live free of sin (1 John 3:9). All we have to do is choose God every time, and to live as the Spirit leads; for if we live after the Spirit we shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).

A lot of people don't think this is important, but hear me, it is. God cares about what we do spirit, soul and body, because He has paid the price to own it all to Himself (1 Corinthians 6:20),and eventually it tells on Him too. We are His representatives on the earth; so how we live paints a picture of who He is amongst men. That's why we have a responsibility to live right- as He leads us to in righteousness.

You see, most times the scripture speaks of possibilities and God's expectations for us. It may not be how we are living now, but it's how He expects us to live. And we can. Remember, we have been called unto holiness and not uncleanness (1 Thess 4:7); and holiness entails living in accordance to the Word and the guidance of the Spirit. The good news by the way is that now we can receive grace from Him to live as He expects us to. So go ahead now and do just that.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, I receive grace to live as you do. To live by you and like you. And to walk in your righteousness at all times to the glory of your name. Amen.
