You Have Passed Over Condemnation (1)

- You Have Passed Over Condemnation (1)

"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit" (Romans 8:1)

Notice what the Bible says: You can't be condemned now that you are in Christ because now you live for God and through Him. That means your past can't condemn you because you have been forgiven and given a new identity that has no such past in Christ.

And by the help of the Spirit, there can be no damnation in your present or future. That also means you can't end up in hell or on the wrong side of God's judgment. Please understand that this is applicable to those who live and walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh with its many self-absorbed pleasures; for when the Spirit leads, He leads to the very heart of God.

Hence, if you are in the former category of persons, I'm talking to you. You have passed over condemnation and can return no more to it. In Exodus, we read of the Passover, and how on that day all of Egypt faced wrath untamed and death except the children of Israel. Well, that's symbolic to exactly what happens in Christ - our Passover Lamb. In Him, we have been exempted from wrath and death (1 Thess 1:10).

The people of Israel didn't do anything to earn it, just belonging to God, and in Christ it's the same. He has paid the price for it all. But now we are called to walk in the liberty of this condemnation-free status unto righteousness and holiness, so as not to end up like the Israelites who may not have been consumed by wrath in Egypt but were in the wilderness when they walked uncontrollably after the flesh. Remember, to be carnally minded is death (Romans 8:6).

Anyway, I want you to take these two things with you- that God won't condemn you for your past now that you're in Christ, and that you have the power in Christ to live for and through God free of sin and death now and forever (Romans 8:2-4). Glory to God!

Confession:

Heavenly Father, I thank you for the new life you've given in Christ. A life free of sin; and one fit for your use. I thank you because I'm free from condemnation, because Jesus is my rock and salvation. Yes, I am free now, and I'm free forever.
