You Have Been Sanctified

DAILY VITAMIN

- You Have Been Sanctified

"...but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God". (1 Corinthians 6:11)

It is imperative as Christians to know that, even though we are obliged to walk in the Spirit of sanctification, it is not in our power to work out sanctification because we have already been sanctified by the Spirit of Christ in His Name.

With this understanding, it all makes sense. You see,  it would be impossible to clean what has already been cleaned. That's what sanctification means; being cleaned, without a past or a before, only a now in Christ. But it is possible to live in the newness of that identity, and that's what God expects of us.

And how do we do this? Scripture says those who turn to God receive forgiveness and an inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith (Acts 26:18). So there we see that the believers are already sanctified; however in Acts 20:32, we are commended to the Word of God's grace which builds us up and also gives us an inheritance among the sanctified. Thus, while faith in the Word (Christ) sanctified us and assured us of an inheritance by the Spirit, practicing and walking in the Word keeps us in the reality of that newness. But for what's what: you have been sanctified.

Confession:

I am a new creation. Everything about me has been made anew. I have been justified from my past ways, and sanctified into the new ways of Christ by the Spirit of God. My new nature, attitude, disposition all reflect the person of Christ to those around me at all times; and I walk consciously in this image every day. Glory to God!
