Righteousness Is By Faith

DAILY VITAMIN

- Righteousness Is By Faith

"For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith." (Romans 1:17)

Our theme scripture tells us that the Word of God reveals that the righteousness of God is by faith. The entire scriptures prove that to be true. We never merited it, it was imparted to us in Christ (Romans 3:22). But one may argue, then how come Abraham was called righteous?

Abraham was declared righteous not because of his deeds, but because of his faith- because he believed (Romans 4:3). Yet even at that he wasn't referred to as a son of God, neither was any other patriach after Adam, as we are today; because his righteousness was simply symbolic as to how righteousness shall be attained only by faith.

But we through Christ are not only declared righteous but also children of God. And this is possible because if it took the first Adam to make us sinners, it would take only the "second Adam" (Christ) to make us righteous before God (Romans 5:17). Recall that "..what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Jesus in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh" (Romans 8:3). Abraham didn't receive the gift of His Spirit nor of eternal life in those days, as the Bible tells us they had to wait to share in these promises with us (Hebrews 11:40), because these only came to men through Christ (1 John 5:11)- through faith in Christ.

The Bible says without this faith it is impossible to please God or to be acceptable before Him (Hebrews 11:6); but Jesus Himself expounded better. He said it is impossible to please God unless you believe in He whom He has sent (John 6:29). This alone reveals that Christ isn't just an item in Christianity, He is the essence; and that we were not saved because we were good but because we believe in Him who is good. Our righteousness is of Him. Glory to God!

Confession:

I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. By faith, old things have passed away, and I'm now brand new. My life speaks of His glory; because it has been transformed not by anything I did, but by everything He did. And so I say thank you Jesus for making me whole again. Hallelujah!
