Why God Wants You To Prosper

DAILY VITAMIN

- Why God Wants You To Prosper

"Say it again: The Lord of Hosts declares that the cities of Israel will again overflow with prosperity, and the Lord will again comfort Jerusalem and bless her and live in her." (Zechariah 1:17 TLB)

The scripture says that "God will return to Jerusalem with mercies.... and thy cities through prosperity shall spread forth; for He shall yet comfort Zion, and He shall yet choose Jerusalem" (Zechariah 1:16-17). How wonderful! More than anything, God wants His people to prosper. We are told that He rejoices at this (Psalm 35:27); and in the New Testament speaking through John said "I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper, and be in good health, even as thy soul prospers" (3 John 2).

So it isn't a myth; God does want you to prosper - be it in health, in your career, in your relationships, in your finances, or otherwise. For instance, He says you would lack no good thing (Psalm 34:10); what does that tell you? He wants you living in prosperity, because He knows that through it many others will be blessed and brought to the Kingdom. He said to Abraham "I will make you a blessing, and through you will all the families of the earth be blessed" (Genesis 12:3). It was His intention then, and it still is now.

Speaking to those that are rich, He said it is He who gives us richly all things to enjoy (1 Tim 6:17), and then charged them to use it unto all good works (v. 18). The first thing we learn from there is that prosperity and true riches come from God alone. The scripture says this kind comes not from any of the four cardinal points, but from the LORD (Psalm 75:6-7); and Jesus spoke about receiving true riches from God if we are faithful. And praise God, in Him we are, and have received it of Him. We are told that all things have been given to us because of Christ (1 Cor 3:21-23), as well as all the blessings in heaven (Ephesians 1:3).

The second thing we can learn is that He causes us to prosper so we can lead others back to Him- especially through our good works. This is why God wants you to prosper - that through your prosperity His Kingdom might be spread forth amongst men. Remember, just as He blessed you to bless others, He also has prospered you to help others prosper as well. Yes! For only when the mountain of the Lord (the church of God)  has been raised above all other hills and mounts will men freely run into it (Micah 4:1-2), because of what they see expressly evident in your life (Zechariah 8:23).

Hence, never believe God doesn't want you to prosper, or that it's against what the scripture teaches. Because it isn't. It's in His Word, and so must be His will; it's His truth, and so must be all He says you can be. Recall, eyes have not seen, nor ears heard, nor the heart of men conceived what God has prepared for them who love Him (1 Cor 2:9). Glory to God!!!

Confession:

I know God's plans for me are always of good and not evil to give me an expected end. I believe it pleases Him to see me prosperous; for He knows that through the blessings He endows me with shall all the families of the earth be blessed. So I declare that prosperity is my portion  because it is my heritage through Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!
