You Are Spiritual; Act So

DAILY VITAMIN

- You Are Spiritual; Act So

“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:25)

It’s never pretension if it is inherent; and it’s not fake if it is who you are. 1 John 2:6 says “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also to walk, even as he walked”. The believer is of all things first spiritual. He is born of the Spirit; and whatsoever is born of Spirit is spirit (John 3:6). And so it has been ingrained in his spirit nature to be like God. However, now that we are still housed in the flesh, the tendency to live and act otherwise is there.

Recall Jesus said we are in the world, but not of the world. There we find our location (i.e. in the world) and also our position (i.e. not of the world). The term “not of the world” means spiritual; so in other words, Jesus was calling us spiritual beings. Being born again, we are no longer natural beings, and are definitely not meant to be carnal beings either; we have a lively and living spirit now in Christ by His Spirit actively fused into and resident within us. However, though we do not any longer have the capacity to be anything less than spiritual by virtue of His person in us, yet we can act and walk as such. And that’s what matters the most.

For instance, in Matthew 5, Jesus says we are lights; and then He said that unless we shine and not hide under a bushel, we would not be serving our original purpose (v. 14-16). He also called us salt; and then said that if we lose our savour, what good are we? (Luke 14:34-35). So while it is great that we now live in the Spirit as spiritual entities by virtue of New Birth unto the worship of God, unless we appropriate it by walking in that nature, we can lose the very profitable realities it borne.

Remember, we are identified not by the tree we are, but by the fruits we bear (Matthew 12:33). Hence, don’t just be spiritual in nature, live and walk it every day through the Word.

Confession:

I am a spiritual being. I find pleasure in the things of the Spirit of God. I live because of Him and walk with Him. As a result, my life fully expresses the original realities God had destined for me as light all day every day of my life. Glory to God! Hallelujah!!!
