DAILY VITAMIN

- This Is Why You Are Here

“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” Jesus answered. “This came about so that God’s works might be displayed in him.” (John 9:3 CSB)

The story of the young man in our theme scripture is fascinating one. He was born with congenital blindness; and that led him to scrap for alms as much as he could. When the friends of Jesus saw this, they asked Him if it was the result of his terrible sins or his parent’s that he was in this position. But Jesus said ‘No’, and then gave them the reason for his current condition as seen in our theme verse.

I know many times it is different. For instance, the man who got an STI did so because of his actions often times. However, in this case, God was not attributing this circumstance to anyone’s misdeed, but asserting that it had a divine purpose. Doesn’t it remind you of yourself sometimes? You wonder how your life could have been if your parents were richer, or better; or how others’ lives could have been better if you had moved away? But taking a piece out of the puzzle doesn’t always solve it.

You may have passed through a hard time, and can’t explain the why behind it; but get this: God never gives us more than we can carry at any time. We may not feel like we have the strength, but He knows we do. And most times He just wants to make something manifest through us as Jesus said regarding that man.

That man, for instance, after that moment, gave people the most compelling testimony of Jesus that even the Jewish leaders couldn’t counter it (vv. 17-38). Not many people could do that, but he stood as light revealing the supremacy of Christ. That’s what He wants to do with you too. Your present condition is only a raw material in the making of the greater experience He’s prepared for you. It doesn’t matter how long it might take, He is going to make manifest His light and life through you. So, shine (Matt 5:14-16)!

Confession:

I am not a cosmic mistake. God made me for a purpose. He has me where I am today for a purpose, and will accomplish that which He has set out to do. My life shall turn out to be a beacon of His grace; and all I may be going through now shall turn out into my deliverance. Glory to God!
