Jesus Wants Your Heart

DAILY VITAMIN
- Jesus wants Your Heart
"Just think how much more surely the blood of Christ will transform our lives and hearts. His sacrifice frees us from the worry of having to obey the old rules, and makes us want to serve the living God...." (Hebrews 9:14 TLB)

The Old Testament religion was more about appearance. That was how it qualified devotion; just look the part. It was centered on having a form of godliness - an appearance of piety; and so it was easier for people to pretend - for it didn't really bring the perpetual and transformative change God desires in man.

And so when Jesus came, He made us know straight ahead how this- what we had been practicing -was a mountain throw away from God's original intention. In that while the old system only "cleaned" our bodies, Jesus came to clean our hearts. He made us know that there was a difference between appearance and true godly devotion.

He said to the patriots of the old system, "..This people honour Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me." (Matthew 15:8); and that "No wonder you can't believe! For you gladly honour each other, but you don't care about the honour that comes from the only God!" (John 5:44 TLB). And then showed us how it should really work. He said "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind" (Matthew 22:37). It has be from the heart.

It is very true that God wants our bodies as He has our spirits now regenerated, but He also wants our hearts. He wants to be at the center of our heart, because He knows that all issues of this earthly life spring out from there. This is the reason why we have many 'supposed' Christians still misbehaving. Be it Church leaders and Church members messing up alike - because their hearts aren't completely given to God.

The devil knows he can't capture your spirit now that the Holy Spirit has encapsulated its entirety by virtue of New Birth, so he goes for your heart, to ensure that while your spirit desires to please God, your outward actions are in opposition to that. Like I said, that is why we have many believers who despise the idea of sinning still committing sins- because their hearts aren't given yet. So I'm asking you today, just as Jesus desires to transform your heart and life, give Him indeed your life and heart every day. Blessed be God!

Confession
I am the temple of the Living God, and my heart is His shrine. In it, His will and ways have been established and are practiced. This is so because the light of His Word has penetrated deep within, thereby injecting and revealing the very nature of the Person of Christ by the Spirit through me. Amen.
