A Substitute For The Sinner

DAILY VITAMIN
- A Substitute For The Sinner
"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." (2 Corinthians 5:21)
That is exactly what Jesus chose to be- the bridge that brings the lost souls back to God. Just so you know, Jesus didn't die for just Christians. Those who acknowledge His death and resurrection and receive His Lordship become Christians. Jesus died for the whole world - for everybody.
As He said, He came "not for the righteous, but for the sinner." (Mark 2:17). In other words, if there had been no sin, Jesus would never had needed to die. He died because our sins required that He did for us to be redeemed and justified before God. And if He could again, this will somewhat occur every time a sinner is turned to God; because it's His primary delight to take our place that we might have one in God.
In Luke 23, the Bible tells us that a murderous and rebellious man Barabbas was released on account of Jesus' crucifixion. I don't know what happened to Barabbas after that; but I want you to think about it. Who could ever let such a dangerous man go free? The Jewish priests may have to had been drunk to request such when their own law suggests a life for a life. But they weren't; this was simply Jesus giving us a clue of the whole story before the tapes of redemption began rolling. He was showing them that it was His eternal purpose in God to set even the most guilty free, and to keep them free forever, through His redemptive work.
"He is able save completely all who come to God through him. Since he will live forever, he will always be there to remind God that he has paid for their sins with his blood." (Hebrews 7:25 TLB).
It was His part to be the substitutionary candidate for the man declared to die that he might live again in Him. This is the mystery of Christ - that He delivered us from the wrath of God that we might have a life in the Lord. Hallelujah!

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for loving me and for saving my soul. It was a natural delight for you to see me rescued from sin and destruction. And I thank you for your Son Jesus whom you used to perfect this transaction. May all glory and honour be unto you forever. Amen.
