God Wants You To Be Transformed

DAILY VITAMIN
- God Wants You To Be Transformed
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord." (2 Corinthians 3:18)
When a lot of people hear God's Word being preached, or read it, they use the term "I was touched" very often. But guess what? God doesn't want you to be touched - because that's emotional and thus temporal, He wants you to be transformed. The Word of God is not designed to touch us; it is full of capacity to transform us. Praise God!
Psalm 119:130 says that as the light of the Word engulfs us, it transforms us from simple minded people to people of understanding. While our theme verse tells us that as we behold Christ through the mirror of the Word, we are transformed from glory to glory by the Spirit of God. You see, on Mount Sinai Moses was touched by God and as a result glowed; but his glow wasn't permanent. It faded off with time.
How could he have been transformed when he didn't have the Holy Spirit living in Him? You have to be born again to experience that. And so as much as the Old Testament heroes tried, they didn't receive permanent transformations. But not us. Yes! Not us. We have been born again, not of the corruptible seed, but of the incorruptible, by the Word of God (1 Peter 1:23). And that is the benchmark for our transformation. It was what Paul indirectly indicated as the way to be transformed - The Word of God.
So, get that God doesn't just want to touch you, or give you some temporal solace; His plan for you is eternal. Many of those whom Jesus touched may have gotten just as sick again, but to he who would believe His Word of transformation, He said though he were dead in any situation, he shall live and never die again (John 11:25-26). A touch can't do that; it isn't enough. Only a transformation can. When you were born again, He transformed your spirit; and now He wants to keep transforming your entire being - body and mind as well. This is the mystery of God's love; that while He might accept you just as you are, He will never leave you just as you are. And how is He going to do it? By His Word. As we behold Him through the Word mirror, we get transformed from one level to another.  Hallelujah!

Confession:
I'm transformed by the Word of God daily. His light descends on my spirit, and transcends me past my usual limitations. I'm growing in glory, power and confidence by the transformative ability of the Word; and in its light I discover mine. Glory to God!
