Be Ready

DAILY VITAMIN
- Be Ready
"So be ready all the time. For I, the Messiah, will come when least expected." (Luke 12:40 TLB)
The Lord's return isn't as far as many assume. The scriptures say it shall come unexpectedly, and suddenly, as a thief in the night. You do know how that works right? You go out for a night out with a few friends, get back at ten, plan how the next day is going to be, and how you've got to drive to the suburbs to deliver some documents by seven in the morning. But then you sleep for the night, and by the time the alarm wakes you up, you realize that your car has been the object of a heist at your place.
You planned a necessary car trip, but by dawn you have been stripped of the car by some criminals. What was there is now gone. That's something similar to how Christ shall return. He said you shall look for Him and not find Him; and then you shall look and see Him; and He exemplified this with the story of the ten virgins. He didn't arrive when they assumed He would, but He did come as appointed. And we have to be ready for it as well, because He calls those who do such blessed (Matthew 24:45-47).
So, what are we meant to do during this time? Live a life worthy of His name. That was Paul's special prayer for the church at Colosse; because it is what Christ expects of us all. Colossians 1:10 says "That we might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God." To the Philippians, he called it living as a Christian should (Phil 1:27). And we do this by walking in the Word always. Remember, in Him we have seen the light and live it every day of our lives in real time. It shouldn't be anything strange to us as believers. While we are on the earth, as He was, we are the lights of the world -revealing the person and power of God to the peoples of all culture. And we have to stay in this light.
Mark 13:35-37 says, "Keep a sharp lookout! For you do not know when I will come, at evening, at midnight, early dawn or late daybreak. Don't let me find you sleeping. Watch for my return! This is my message to you and to everyone else." (TLB). Hence, stay ready; for these alone shall see the Lord (Rev 16:15).

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, It is my utmost desire to please you, and to walk worthy of your Name. I know you have prepared heaven for me; and so I ask for the wisdom to keep walking in faithfulness towards you; to do your will at all times, and to stay ready for your inevitable return. This I ask in Jesus Name. Amen
