Solomon's Secret

DAILY VITAMIN
- Solomon's Secret
"And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly" (2 Chronicles 1:1)
The Bible tells of Solomon's exploits. It gives a concise exposition of his wisdom, wealth and all-round wellness. He was a great man before God and men. But wouldn't you like to know how he got here?
1 Chronicles 28 shows us the simple principle Solomon followed as revealed by David his father to get to the heights he attained. Verse 7 begins with David reminding the people of what God had told him, saying "And if he continues to obey my commandments and instructions as he has until now, I will make his kingdom last forever" (TLB). And then in verse 9, he goes further to tell Solomon how he can achieve this. He said "...Worship and serve him with a clean heart and a willing mind, for God sees every heart and understands and knows every thought. If you seek him, you will find him; but if you forsake him, he will permanently throw you aside" (TLB).
And the Bible tells us that at the beginning of his reign and life, and for a long while throughout his reign, he followed this judiciously; and as long as he did, God caused him to prosper and attain great heights. So, we can say that Solomon's secret was his devotion to God. It is a universal principle: Those who willingly devote themselves to the Lord will have Him acting on their behalf (2 Chronicles 16:9). Even Jotham experienced this. Scripture says he became very great because he prepared his ways before the Lord (2 Chronicles 27:6).
Even our Lord Jesus Christ showed us it is the most legit way to greatness. He said "A greater than Solomon is here", yet He said "The Father has not left me because I always do the things that please Him" (see John 8:29); and we know how He ended up- in glory. As long as we seek to stay loyal to God, He will always find a way to take us to great heights. Luke 12:31 says "He will always give you all you need from day to day if you will make the Kingdom of God your primary concern" (TLB). That was exactly what Daniel meant when He said that people who know their God shall be strong and do great things (Daniel 11:32). It wasn't just a mere passing knowledge that brought about such feats as described, but a knowledge that keeps you following and devoted to Him. A knowledge that keeps the God culture as your muse even as you remain of use in His grand schemes. The wise King Solomon said, and we'll end with this, "Despise God's Word and find yourself in trouble. Obey it and succeed" (Proverbs 13:13 TLB). Now you know!

Prayer:
Dear God, there's nothing I desire more than to please you always. I will joyfully delight myself in you; and in accordance to your Word, for that you will grant me my necessities in life. I know it will be so, for thy Word is immutable. Thank you Lord for this blessing, in Jesus Name. Amen
