You Are The Image Of God

DAILY VITAMIN
- You Are The Image Of God
"Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abideth forever" (1 Peter 1:23)
Not every man is the image of God. Surprised? Well, don't be. When mankind was created in Genesis 1:26, God imputed in him His very nature and identity, but when Adam sinned he fell from that status. Now every man that was born to Adam was born into this fallen status. But in Christ things are different. In Christ, our identity has been recovered and restored. In Christ, we are again the very image of God.
Remember, the scripture calls us who believe the exact image of the Son (John 1:12); and the Son is also God. So, we are now actively in our Genesis 1:26 heritage again all because of Christ. So as I said, not everyone is the image of God on earth; don't let anyone deceive you. Just like no one can share similar DNA patterns with a father other than his child, no one can share of God's image apart from His children.
Romans 9:8 says "...they which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted for the seed". And you are not a child of the flesh. Recall that whatsoever is born of the flesh is flesh, and whatsoever is born of the Spirit is spirit (John 3:6). You are a child of the spirit. You have an active and living spirit by virtue of the Spirit of Christ in you. This outrightly makes you one with God, and as such His very image and resemblance.
So, don't ever be mistaken - you are the image of God. You may have not been born God-like due to the post-Adamic fallen status, but in New Birth you have been made God-like. You have been recreated and regenerated to operate in the pantheon of the God-kind. You now belong to a peculiar lineage of people. And He calls them royal, holy, chosen and of the greater kind (1 Peter 2:9). This is who you are, child of God! So awake from your slumber, and live in this identity of yours in Christ Jesus. You may have had somber experiences, but it is your heritage in Christ to live above it all; and you shall. Glory to God!

Confession:
I know who I am. I've found my place and heritage in Christ. I am the exact image of the Son of God. Therefore, failure, sickness, poverty and fear aren't consistent with my nature. I have, and exercise, dominion over all circumstances of life; for as He is, so I am in this world now and forever. Amen.
