You Have An Enviable Heritage

DAILY VITAMIN
- You Have An Enviable Heritage
"Behold, I and the children God hath given me are for signs and wonders..." (Isaiah 8:18)
In the sight of God you're blessed, and He says it shall be translated in the material world before the eyes of men too. He says you shall be envied and never pitied; because you will always be on top. For instance, you can't pity the light, you can only envy it. Everything desires to be like it; it breaks through all boundaries and evades all protocols. And it can't be held back. The same thing about the salt. It can't be pitied by the soup, because it gives life and taste to the soup. And that's exactly who God says you are- a light and a salt (Matthew 5:13-16). A sign and a wonder that keeps the world staring and wondering.
Now, let's see how Jesus exemplified this reality. Matthew 13 says that when "he returned to his hometown.... and taught there in the synagogue and astonished everyone with his wisdom and his miracles" (v.53-54 TLB). The scripture went on to say that the people couldn't believe it was possible - all that they had seen happen by Him before their eyes. "The carpenter's son now a world changer!" They couldn't just accept it; and it said "they became angry with him" (v.57 TLB).
The word "angry" here could mean "envious"; and this envy left them in unbelief. They loved what they saw, but couldn't accept that someone from Nazareth could break free from the non-entity heritage that had engulfed them for generations to become a great sign for all the world to admire. They couldn't believe it, but it was, because God had made it so.
Furthermore, Jesus passed this torch to us. As such, we can't be hindered by our background, because we have a foreground of glory in Him. In short, people will envy you. Even those who once laughed at you and called you all sorts of name like "the carpenter's son" will watch you become a saviour. They mocked you but they will come back to celebrate you. They can't stop it; God has already done it. He said saviours will proceed out of Zion to judge the world (Obadiah 21). He was referring to us (thus the plurality)- the exact imagery of Christ the saviour. Remember, regardless of the present phase of your life, like Christ you have an enviable heritage in life and destiny. Rejoice in this truth!

Confession:
I'm the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I have a heavenly heritage. I live the Kingdom life. It baffles the world because of its brightness and splendour. My light is unquenchable, because my light comes from the Word which abides forever. Indeed, I have a heritage worth the envy of the onlookers, in Christ Jesus. Glory to God!
