We Don't Want Titles, We Want Impact

DAILY VITAMIN
- We Don't Want Titles, We Want Impact
"Then who are you? Tell us, so we can give an answer to those who sent us. What do you have to say for yourself?" (John 1:22 TLB).
The religious leaders wanted to know whom John the Baptist was, but in the following verse he told them what he was sent to do. We see the same thing happen to Jesus. Matthew 13:55 tells us that the Jews wouldn't believe in all Christ did because they assumed his identity didn't correlate with it. They said "How is this possible?...He's just a carpenter's son, and we know Mary his mother and his brothers.." (TLB). He might not have had an admirable identity to them, but they couldn't deny His works.
Jesus could have been anything He wanted to be on earth. Not only was He God and had the power to have chosen to be anything He wanted, but He also had the influence to have naturally done so. In fact, at some point the people decided to carry out a coup just to make Him king, but Jesus neglected their tempting offer. Jesus understood that the Spirit was upon Him to bring God's relief to men, and not to just simply pursue transient earthly recognition. Jesus didn't care about being called the son of a carpenter as long as He could deliver the works of the Son of God to mankind.
In our days, people care about what people think of them than what God thinks. In short, it has grown so gross that they only willingly do God's work when there's some sort of recognition attached to it. Some others will only do God's work unless there's some form of profit for them in it. While others once they've reached that echelon of influence believe they have nothing else to do than to be adored. But not Paul; he said he counts as nothing all he has attained, and never assumes to have apprehended any status to keep pursuing Christ and His will (Phil 3:13).
Paul was a doctor of the law, yet it meant nothing to him if it would impede his work for the Kingdom. God isn't seeking religious bigots, He's seeking spiritual people. Spiritual people don't chase titles and self-gratifying accolades; they pursue God's will wherever it leads them, because they understand that that's where their glory truly is- with God (2 Corinthians 10:18).
Jesus is the Son of God, yet He went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed by the devil (Acts 10:38)- showing us that what matters to God isn't that you're good but that you are doing good. And He also said "Your attitude must be like my own, for I, the Messiah, did not come to be served, but to serve; and to give my life as a ransom for many" (Matthew 20:28 TLB). What we are doesn't count as much as what we do (John 10:37). He called us light and salt- that is, you may not acknowledge their presence, but you surely will feel their presence in anything. Remember, regardless of how bright a lamp is, it's useless under a bushel. So please, don't chase titles- or what you may be called, pursue impact- what you may do to the glory of God.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, I ask for the grace to seek what pleases you first before any thing else. Help me to focus on your Kingdom - the things you desire done, rather than hopelessly chasing attention and recognition. And may my will from this day be to do your will. In Jesus Name. Amen
