The Spirit And The Wheel

DAILY VITAMIN
- The Spirit And The Wheel
"When the cherubim stood still, so did the wheels, for the spirit of the cherubim was in the wheels" (Ezekiel 10:17 TLB)
The revelation of Ezekiel regarding the spirit and the wheel is the perfect description of how we can walk in the Spirit. Recall that having been born again now, not of corruptible seed, but of the incorruptible, which is the Word of God, we now live in the Spirit. Our life source has moved from the blood to the Spirit of God; and as such we no longer participate in the sin of Adam, but only of the righteousness of Christ. Glory to God!
Moreover, we are told by Paul to not only give ourselves to live in the Spirit, but to also walk in Him (Galatians 5:25). For centuries, even till now, many still struggle with what it means to walk in the Spirit. Paul gave us a clue when He told us to live as the children of light that we are everyday of our lives (Ephesians 5:8). But even that still appears ambiguous to many.
However, in our theme verse we are told what it really looks like. It says "wherever the Spirit went, the wheel went as well". Note that we are the wheel in this scenery. And so to walk in the Spirit means to follow His every move without respite. His thoughts become ours, and so do His ways. The New Testament called this being led by Him. It's like a herdsman and the herd. They only go where He leads. And so, our complete indulgence in obeying every will and word of the Spirit of God is how we grow in our walk with Him.
Now, how do we know His will at each moment of life? First, He speaks to us daily, and we can recognize His voice from the many voices of the world if we are sensitive to His presence. Remember, "my sheep knows my voice" (John 10:4). Nevertheless, if you can't audibly hear from God now, you can get the same answer from His Word. He said "Now that ye have received Him, walk ye in Him"- and how do we get here? "being built up and rooted in Him, established in the [Word of] faith..." (Colossians 2:6-7). Hence, let the Spirit of the Word have His way with you today - as He speaks, do; and as He leads, follow.

Prayer:
Dear God, I thank you because I'm being led by the Spirit every day. I simply ask for the grace to follow. Teach me to be submissive to your will and your guidance everywhere, every time. In Jesus Name. Amen
