Go Beyond Legalism

DAILY VITAMIN
- Go Beyond Legalism
"This Good News tells us that God makes us ready for heaven—makes us right in God’s sight—when we put our faith and trust in Christ to save us. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scripture says it, “The man who finds life will find it through trusting God.” (Romans 1:17 TLB)
We are saved primarily because we trust Christ to save us- and through this trust established a union that helps us become more like Him, and not because we keep laws. But many think otherwise. Galatians 3 tells us that the Ten Commandments were given to Moses only to guide a man away from his frailties until the better way for a permanent transformation came; and that way is fulfilled through faith in Christ (v.19-22).
Remember, He said His grace saved us in believing, and not our own efforts (Eph 2:8), and that all such laws and our pietous observance of them truly brought was a sense of pride and self-righteousness (Col 2:21-23). It couldn't bring true transformation, for the letter only brings death (2 Cor 3:6) but true transformation into His glory comes by the Spirit (2 Cor 3:18). And so, having fellowship with Him by His Spirit is what God truly desires; and it is what faith in Christ establishes.
This is very important because only the Holy Spirit can bring an imprint of the New Covenant into our human spirit. He had said He will write His laws no more on stones but on our hearts; such that we will need no man to teach us, but He Himself (Heb 8:10-11)- and by His Spirit He fulfilled it (1 John 2:27). Now we are able to walk after the law of His Spirit. And yes now we are obeying not because we are afraid or ignorant, but because we know and love Him.
So, He didn't call us to be legalistic, but to be spiritual. To be led by His Spirit; for it is the only true way to please Him (Romans 8:5). It is the essence of our faith. This is because in fellowship we climax in the knowledge of God's person. And this He achieves by the ministry of His Spirit. That is, by His Spirit we know Him, and He continues to know and teach us. Hence, today, pursue and also teach others to learn in fellowship with the Spirit of God, and to yield to His will first.

Prayer:
Sweet Holy Spirit, I ask that you show me the depth of the intimacy of the God-Head. I don't just want to be driven by doctrines and dogmas; I want to know You for all You are. Reveal the love of the Father and the person of His Son Jesus to me, and keep me in fellowship with yourself now and forever, in Jesus' Name. Amen
