Where Is Your Trust?

DAILY VITAMIN
- Where Is Your Trust?
"And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." (Joshua 24:15 AMP)
In life, there are always two choices when faced with difficult situations. First, we can either choose to trust God and bank on the integrity of His Word, or we can choose not to in order to bank on any other alternative. Whether we pick the first option or the other, each has its own reward or consequence. The Scripture tells us that "The Lord says: Cursed is the man who puts his trust in mortal man and turns his heart away from God" (Jeremiah 17:5 TLB).
In God's view, every other alternative that takes us away from fully relying on the Lord, or that breaks our hearts from His, might look pleasant and feasible on face value, but the end of it is futility (see Pro 14:12). Little wonder why David said that he may have looked at the hills for some sort of respite, but his help came only from God (Psalm 121:1). And Jeremiah 3:23 confirms this life's lesson that David learned to be the only truth. So, it would only be a mistake to choose any other thing besides God as your hope. It would only be a sabotage to your own glory.
Now, for the fellow who chooses to put his or her trust in God, He says "but blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and has made the Lord his hope and confidence. He is like a tree planted along the river bank..... it goes right on producing all its luscious fruit" (Jeremiah 17:7-8 TLB). You can never be playing a dangerous game by putting your trust in the Lord, because He will never fail to come through for you. It's just how things work. We seek God whole-heartedly and devotedly first in all circumstances, and every other thing will take shape (Matt 6:33).
He says that those who do otherwise are bound to be shamed (Jeremiah 17:13). Haven't you ever noticed how people you assumed were in the position to help you have blatantly failed countlessly? Men can and will fail you, but God won't. No matter how great their intentions are, or how good their natures are, they can't always do everything right all the time; because they can't do everything. Men are limited by time, resources and circumstances. They may not plan to fail you, but might. They are only creatures too; only the Creator can completely save one.
Thus, wouldn't it be wiser and much less absurd to put your trust in He who can keep you safe from the claws of the wicked, and is in no way subject to their wrath? It sure is. And once you understand where this places you in God as you put your trust in Him, nothing else will matter, and neither will anything frighten you. Paul said, Cheer up, for God has told me that no one here on this ship shall die (Acts 27:22). His trust and temerity of confidence wasn't because of the renowned strength of the Adramyttian ship, but in the Lord. He told us himself when he said "Take courage! For I believe God! It will be just as he said (Acts 27:25 TLB). Can we say the same of ourselves? Think this through, and if not, then we have to start doing what Paul did here in every aspect of our lives, under every condition, every day of our lives- which is trusting God beyond circumstances and without fail.

Prayer:
Dear God, I trust that you will never forsake me when I rely completely on you. I believe that it is always your desire and will to see my life blooming with your goodness. All I ask is for the grace to break my heart from what breaks yours, and the strength in faith to keep holding on to you regardless of the circumstances or challenges I may face; all to the glory of your name, in Jesus' Name. Amen
