Prayer Works

DAILY VITAMIN
- Prayer Works
"You can get anything- anything you ask for in prayer- if you believe." (Matt 21:22 TLB)
There is power in prayer. It is never a waste of words to God, but always an avenue to usher in God's intervention into any situation. In Acts 12, we see the story of Peter being imprisoned by Herod. He was locked in the innermost section of jail with four plus a dozen soldiers to keep guard. But deep into the night, an angel of the Lord appeared and walked Peter out of that fortress like a dream of the night. It seemed like a dream to Peter that God had broken him free from the snare of the enemy, but little did he know that prayers had been going on all day and all night long on his behalf (v.5).
The Living Bible termed it earnest prayers. That means a heartfelt, continuous and faith filled string of prayers, which we are told in scripture is dynamic in its working and effective in its results as it regards the believer (James 5:16). The result these prayers produced was so mesmerizingly outrageous that even those involved couldn't quite believe it themselves when it happened (v.15). It was unbelievable, but yes the same Peter who was scheduled to die was back home.
Prayer does work, and it works marvelously. The scriptures say that a man who is afflicted should give himself to prayer because by it God's intervention is guaranteed. Remember, they that seek God wholeheartedly [in prayer] always find Him (Jeremiah 29:13). Wholeheartedly here means to come with your heart full of faith. You can get God involved in that difficult circumstance of yours, all you have to do is ask Him to in prayer this moment.
Just as our theme verse says, when we pray believing to receive as asked, we can never be denied. James 1:5,8 goes ahead to confirm this, and its alternate reality. So take advantage of this opportunity and begin to pour out your heart to God. Don't put your energy into pitying yourself. Put it into praying to God; for as soon as you begin to pray, all your troubles begin to fade (Psalm 56:9). Hence, start right  this moment, and ceaselessly pour out your desires to Him because He can and will do it; for He says whatever you ask in the name of Jesus, He will do (John 14:14).

Prayer:
Lord Almighty, I ask that you grant me [specify your needs and desires]. I believe with all my heart that you can and have done it already. Thank you for answering me, in Jesus' Name. Amen
(Remember, you have to sincerely believe that He can and will do as you have asked of Him)
