Do God's Work

DAILY VITAMIN
- Do God's Work
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven" (Matt 5:16)
When we talk about doing the work of God, a lot of honest believers think it's just about belonging to a service group in the local church to help out the smooth running of the Church's business. But it's much more than that. God’s work is eternally related to people. It's about honouring Jesus enough to love people back unto salvation. In other words, when God calls us to do His work, He's asking us to draw men to Himself.
This might sound strange, but it's true; that's all the works of God are about. Whether it's being nice to a complete stranger like that Samaritan or being busy for the Lord in the local church, the sole purpose is to pour out light to men so that they can escape from their darknesses. Jesus showed us this when He made the Lord's work synonymous to winning the Samaritan woman (John 4:34).
Some religious people get satisfied with just being good to people in church, and completely alienating themselves from those outside the church. But guess what? Jesus didn't send us to the church but to the world. The Holy Spirit wasn't given so that we could camp in the church premises alone, but that we might go to the Judeas, Jerusalems, Samarias, and the uttermost parts of the earth around us.
Look at what Jesus said of Himself "THE SPIRIT of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to preach the Gospel of good tidings to the meek, the poor, and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up and heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the [physical and spiritual] captives and the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound, To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord [the year of His favor] and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, To grant [consolation and joy] to those who mourn in Zion..." (Isaiah 61:1-3 AMP); and He says as the Father sent Him, so also have we been sent. In that scripture, you will find first a mission to the world, and then the mission to the church.
So stop being an evangelical conservative who takes the light of God only to the local church, do what the Lord desires, and spread your light around until all come back unto Him. Don't neglect the world that so badly needs God's saving grace. Don't lock yourself up in church alone because it feels safer. The scripture tells us to try to save the lost world even though we must be cautious of its pollution (Jude 23). God didn't send us here to run away from the world, but to help save them by the power of Christ in us. Be the light your community needs; the light your neighbors need; the light the unsaved family member or work colleague needs, but by all means show them Jesus- remember you are now the light of the world as He is, and the express image of His person.
Hence, go around and share the Gospel truth; exemplifying the Gospel truth, and demonstrating it, until by your words and deeds, men are brought back to the Lord (Zech 8:23). Glory to God!

Prayer:
In the Name of Jesus, I receive grace to walk in the expression of God's light every day of my life. At work, at home, in church, and everywhere. I pray for the grace to win souls to the Kingdom through my words and deeds. As I spread my wings to the world around me through the Good News of Christ, I ask that You empower me to draw multitudes unto you. Help me Your Holy Spirit. Amen
