I've Got A New Attitude

DAILY VITAMIN
- I've Got A New Attitude
"As Saul said goodbye and started to go, God gave him a new attitude, and all of Samuel's prophecies came true that day." (1 Sam 10:9 TLB)
Every change of level requires a change in attitude. Even prophecies, which are conditional, are pushed into fruition by our attitude in response to God's Word.
I'm sure you must have heard the cliché "your attitude determines your altitude" being said many times; well, it's true because it is responsible for how high or low a man can get in life. In the 20th century, a musician Patti LaBelle sang "I've got a new attitude", and while many danced to its tune and the strong harmonics of her voice, not a lot actually changed. So they sang it, danced it, but not many truly implemented or lived it. But to God, this was paramount for anyone He would choose as king.
The KJV puts it as "God gave him another heart". This means his thought pattern had to change, and so did his actions and reactions. Now, what were the considerably evident changes this brought about in Saul's life- both domestically and politically?
First, Saul who was once termed worldly had an increased desire for God and His concerns (1 Sam 10:12). Second, Saul who was pretty shy grew great in confidence. He had once hidden among a chunk of stuffs, but now he was facing all Israel as its new king. Third, he became brave as to challenge the enemy and oppressors. Fourth, he became optimistic and was absolutely given to patience towards God’s plans. And last, he was focused. The Bible said nothing moved or distracted him; in that even when others refuted and insulted him, "he took no notice" (v.27). That means he never responded hastily, but always with wisdom and poise.
Now, even though most of these were evident only at the beginning of his reign, we can see that it was what took him to the top and eventually gave him a reign. In the same way, for every new level you desire, God demands a new attitude. By His Spirit, He will shape us into His ideal figures for that position; however we must be willing to let Him change us. You'd notice I didn't use the word "fix", because in God we're not broken; rather He only augments our capacities and dispositions to suit the next role He's prepared for us.
So, get excited at the prospect and pursuit of this new attitude God seeks from you in the way you talk, act, trust, believe, think, and react. Remember as a man thinks [his attitude], so is he. Hence, let's not just assume the attitude song like the Lady LaBelle's crooners, instead let's live in this new attitude in actuality, because it is coming with a change of level. We are being transformed because we're being transferred from glory to glory. You need this new attitude of glory, and when you do get it, live it!
