Believe The Word

DAILY VITAMIN
- Believe The Word
''And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed not''. (Luke 24:11)
When we as individuals hear or read the Word of God concerning us....His words of promise, I believe some of us still choose to doubt so as to feel safe in our own small little world, in order to have that excuse of "I didn't believe, so in case it doesn't work out, it won't really hurt me"; failing to understand that the inability of the words to become a reality in our lives was first as a result of our inaction towards believing.
Many of us believe in God, but not many believe God. There are multiple religions, but the supposed religious people are still active on the field of doubts when it comes to the subject of God. God can and will only be accessed by faith.
Little wonder why Jesus said ''Blessed are they who believe without seeing'', showing us that the orientation of receiving blessings from God begins with believing before any other thing follows; that is, doubt plus work equals nothing, but by believing work equals success.
In the verse superseding the text above, the Bible records that Peter ran to the grave, even while it was previously said that he 'believed not'; definitely meaning that he believed, yet due to the fear of the unknown...of the 'what if it was a lie' complex, decided to choose the non-believing line at that moment. The same approach the apostles had towards Rhoda's report pertaining to Peter (Acts 12:15) - choosing to doubt just to avoid any disappointment in that which they trusted (Luke 24:21).
Looking at your own life, do you still live in doubt, or walk with God in doubt, not because you don't believe, but just to feel safe....to feel welcomed among the many that decided not to believe in order to kill the stigmatisation the fear of failure brings against you every time you believe? Well, you shouldn't; because God's will is for us to trust Him in these days than any source of unbelief there might be (see Isaiah 10:20 TLB).
Hence, once again even to you, even to me, Jesus is saying ''Look and live'' as the hymn says, but note He doesn't just mean it as looking literally, but looking at Him, His words.....even as we keep believing and living in the reality of all He wills for us. Remember, to get the best the Word says about us, we have to believe the best the Word says about us!
