What The Word Will Do For You

DAILY VITAMIN
- What The Word Will Do For You
"This is my comfort and consolation in my affliction: that Your word has revived me and given me life." (Psalm 119:50 AMP)
The story of Elisha is similar to a lot of us men. He had just begun his stewardship as a squire to one of God's holy prophets- an opportunity that was worth more than gold, being a feat that was very hard to come by back then. However, all of a sudden God was going to cut short this service, at least that's what it looked like.
Elijah tried to leave him at Gilgal, but he persisted to serve unto the end; the seers blabbed about how their visions were pointing to his disadvantage, yet he kept his eyes not on their words, but on the truth of God's will for his life. And this he continued in with persistence until he himself grew into a servant of God, from the steward of a servant.
What's the lesson here? In life, times would come when it would seem as though all hope is lost.....that that once bright purpose of God for your life has dimmed out; but from Elisha's reaction to the many wayfaring turbulences that he encountered, we learn that we must give ourselves to lit it back on by staying persistent in that which God has called us into. And nothing tells us what God thinks about us and has called us to best than His Word.
God's word is life-giving. It opens our eyes to see in the light of God's perspective (Psalm 119:18). It brings us into capacity in order to possess and access the great realities in Christ.
And so, to live the life ordained for you by heaven completely, then you must stay right as a proper Christian should. And this includes not just knowing what the Word says, but also living by what it says. In other words, to succeed in all you do, stay persistent with all diligence, living in application to what the Word says (James 1:25).
You see, Faith is simply believing the word of God in its very simplicity. And then practicing it. Don't try to explain it too much, or you might just find a reason to doubt; and he that doubts has no right to receive anything (James 1:6). God's word is the only truth about you; acknowledging or believing any other thing would be choosing to live a life that is contradictory to all God says you can be.
Thus, to be happy, stay persistent in your pursuit of happiness; but never lose sight of the joy that is already yours in Christ. If not, the tension of the journey might force you to lose sight of that which you had initially.
Remember, your source is within you; and embracing this reality is what gives essence to every other thing.  For those things your disjointed hard-work cannot do, consciously walking in the truth of the Word and remaining persistent on what it says will reap it for you.
Hence, no matter how unfruitful your endeavours may seem today, stay persistent in your labours, but more importantly stay believing on the Word, and the plenteous harvest of years before as a flood will rush in at any moment now. And it doesn't stop there, because the Word will even do much more in and for you!
