What God Desires

DAILY VITAMIN
- What God Desires
"My sacrifice [the sacrifice acceptable] to God is a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart [broken down with sorrow for sin and humbly and thoroughly penitent], such, O God, You will not despise." (Psalm 51:17 AMP)
How sorry are you everytime you offend someone close to you? If much, then I'd say you love such a person. Trying to make amends with someone shows just how much you really acknowledge and appreciate them.
Next....How sorry are you everytime you wrong God? If much, then I'd also say that you are the kind of person God wants around Him. But note, when I say 'being sorry', I mean unto repentance, unto perfection....and not mere remorse; because that is the basics of a contrite spirit - one that never wants to wrong God, and so when it does, finds no rest until they two are in par again.
Little wonder why God delights so much in such an asset. He said....''To this man will I look, even to him.... of a contrite spirit'' (Isaiah 66:2).
Have you gotten your answer yet to the opening question? If not yet, hear this: God is interested in every man, yet time has shown that not every man has enough interest in Him; and that is why it seems as though some are carried by Him, and others left behind- because only to those who want Him does HE appear to.
Though every created man desperately needs a creating God, but still as only the seeking find, so also only the wanters of God, get Him; and one of the many possible ways to get Him is to be contrite before Him.
To be contrite in this case means to have a nature that consciously and willing surrenders to Him. And He so much cares for this virtue, that in that text, He speaks of not spending so much time staring at the beauty of His creation, but a long while on such a man.
So here's that question again; Are you of a contrite spirit? If yes, press on; but if No, covet such, for of such men does God seek at this edge of time!
