It's Your Duty To Reverence God

DAILY VITAMIN
- It's Your Duty To Reverence God
"Love the Lord with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength." (Deuteronomy 6:5 GNB)
Sometimes I wonder how we would feel if we created puppets, and watched them behave rashly towards us the way we sometimes behave towards God. However, we are more than puppets in God's sight. We are His children. And while a puppet's misbehavior may be condoned, a child's wouldn't.
"For the Lord corrects and disciplines everyone whom He loves, and He punishes, even scourges, every son whom He accepts and welcomes to His heart and cherishes. You must submit to and endure [correction] for discipline; God is dealing with you as with sons. For what son is there whom his father does not [thus] train and correct and discipline? Now if you are exempt from correction and left without discipline in which all [of God's children] share, then you are illegitimate offspring and not true sons [at all]" (Hebrews 12:6-8 AMP).
In the days of old, God asked a simple question to the whole of mankind as written in the scroll of Isaiah...''Of whom has thou been afraid that thou has lied, and has not remembered Me'' (57:11), and coming to think of it, I can't even clearly answer that question concerning my own daily life. "Who or what's worth rebelling against God for?" What's behind every action we make in contradiction to our nature as a God-kind? Well, that's a question that needs to settled immediately, to get back on track with God.
Our attitude have so much as deteriorated that we now fear men and situations than we fear God. In fact, from our everyday experience, we can attest to the fact that the majority of us fear failure or disappointment than God; willing to cheat if it would supposedly save us from failing; and to compromise to save face and if it would free our necks for the moment.
But God's saying that if you would be Christian, then be Christian: Christ-like (Ephesians 5:8)......placing your hands and eyes on the 'plough', regardless of the world's distorting moves. If you live of the Spirit, then also live by the Spirit. Live in agreement with His desires, before self's.
For instance, when Peter saw the brutal crowd that came against him, his friends and his Lord, he forgot the essence of Christianity, and took up the ways of the way-faring violent man just to save his neck, but Jesus said 'Suffer ye thus far' (Luke 22:51); which translates "enough of this sort of attitude" (GNB). Enough of acting like darkness when we are clearly of light. We may live in the same world with it, but must never become like it. We must keep renewing our minds to remain more God-oriented than ever before.
The question now is, how much are you willing to give to stay with God, or to escape from failure your own way? Yes, you are saved, but much more than that now God wants you to live in the path of the rebirth you have been called into. Remember, an eagle has no affair with the peacock. So, you can't be an eagle and still live the peacock life. It's an abuse to your identity.
Again, for reference sake, I ask, "Of whom have you feared that you have not feared God?" The moment we realize and acknowledge that the Person of God supersedes and can do greater and more extreme things for you than anything can ever do against you, then I'm certain we would give Him the true place He deserves in our lives- First. This connotes that if you choose God even when the world threatens you with failure, there is a far greater hope of victory for you; but if they compel you to forsake God and you do, then you sure are in a bigger mess.
Thus, in everything you do, I implore you to keep God as first in your heart, and make sure He remains there regardless of how scary the world's grin against you may seem. Hence, fear God more than you fear anything else...for that is the whole duty of man (Ecclesiastes 12:13)!
