The Father's Love

DAILY VITAMIN
- The Father's Love
"...He had always loved those in the world who were his own, and he loved them to the very end" (John 13:1 GNB)
How can one describe the love of Christ for us? With what extremity or degree can it be depicted or compared with to the understanding of men. What vocabulary will best explain it? And what models will best measure it? With what can it be preferably juxtaposed with?
Perhaps as the love of a mother for her child, No! for though that may stand a while, but when far away from the toddler in the fire, it avails little. Or maybe perhaps as the bee's for the honeycomb? But, No! again, for when the southern winds pull all combs down the tree, the bee finds another home. Yet again maybe as the love you have for your closest friend? Yet no again, but rather greater than that, for in death one cannot save even his closest.
But Christ, when death had engulfed you and I, He substituted in exchange His life for our death that we may live. When sin pressed the tiniest of all souls, He took the weight of the cross, relieving us of that burden of sin. And as David said, when all forsook us, even friends and parents, He took us in (Psalm 27:10).
He took the punishment that was ours. And still chose to continue at it, even though we looked at Him with despise. Indeed, it is unquantifiable and unqualifiable. It was love, as sincere and pure as it could be. It is a love without end. It is as deep as the depth of infinity, and as wide as the east is from the west.
You'd know that there is no east pole or west pole as there's a north and a south. And so that means its distance is beyond infinite. That's also how the length, breadth and height of God's love for us is- absolutely beyond the infinities of our ample imaginations.
Little wonder why Paul wrote 'to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge' (Ephesians 3:19). His love for you and I and all of mankind is far above definitions. It's unfathomable and indescribable; for while we men might define our love to one another, He showed us the degree of His- unconditional: and I may only hope that we get to understand it.
The Father's love for us is beyond the comprehension of the mortal mind. The Bible calls us important to Him (Psalm 8:4-6). Even Job couldn't find a notable reason for it (Job 7:17). We didn't do anything to deserve it, He simply just loves us with a love that cannot be abated by life nor death, persecution nor trials, the present nor the past, angels nor mortals; it's a love no one and nothing can steal away.
Therefore, with this understanding, I expect you to never be lacking in joy. God loves you unconditionally- and that's more than anyone can get in life. That's more than what all the oil in Arabia and the monies in the world can afford. That means your life is a priority to Him; a subject of special interest in His eyes. I know how you would react if the UN gave you that same privilege; how much more when it's God giving it?
Thus, get excited. Show it, express it and never withhold it from others. However, it all comes down to how much of this love you appreciate. For to appreciate means to first comprehend what was at stake, then to appropriate its value, and to share its dividends with as many as possible, all to the glory of God. So, permit me to tell you this: God’s love for you is more than enough to be joyful about. So, please, be!
