Pain Shared Is Gain

DAILY VITAMIN
- Pain Shared Is Gain
"Bear one another's burden, and so fulfil the law of Christ".            (Galatians 6:2 RSV)
A burden carried by a multitude of persons doesn't cause as much backache as when only one person carries the load. And as evident as it can be, the Roman troops show us that when the burden of war comes against them, by staying together, aiding one another to gain balance, they can lyse the very centre of strength in the defence of the invading enemies.
In the same vein, Christianity goes along with a cross- a cross that sometimes may feel too heavy for the weak to carry; and thus it becomes mandatory for the strong to aid the weak when he falls. Though scripture says that no one can fully share in the bitterness or joy of another (Proverbs 14:10), yet these ones can help either to worsen or lighten the load.
Note, everything we see in the Bible teaches us this. From the apostle's constant advice for men to stay as an assembly helping each other in trying times, to Christ Himself coming to the aid of the bewailed sisters when Lazarus laid down cadaveric; and even to the scenario of Simon helping Jesus carry the cross. Every single one of them show us the need to be a source of comfort to others, as is also our duty in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).
Just today, I began to wonder why that scene was pictured in text to us in the Bible, and its relatedness to our normal daily human lives, and by His grace I came to realize that though Jesus was weak after the beatings, and needed an extra help in order to regain the strength He had lost, it is also there for our further learning into the things God wants us to know (Romans 15:4).
Most times, a lot of people around us will get so beaten by trials that the cross they began to carry from the courtyard would now seem so heavy as they get closer to the hill. At this point they would need an extra hand to pull them when they stagger or fall.
You know, in real time, some trials are so heavy that they can sink a person into the ground faster than a tumultous rock, and this is a major reason why we need to stay together, aiding one another even as the trying days come. Jesus said in His solemn prayer 'that they all may be one' (John 17:21): one in mind, in spirit, in purpose towards God..pleasing Him, in bearing each other's load, and in sharing each other's pain.
And guess what? When a loaf is sliced into a thousand pieces, it becomes crumbs; when a brick is crushed, it becomes dust; so also when pain is shared, it becomes gone- for pain when shared can only bring gain and resolve!
So, what am I telling you to do? Find those who need as much comfort from the emotional and physical tantrums they have suffered, and lend a hand to them. You are actually someone's prayer request in manifestation. Thus, let God use you to help them. Make yourself available. Let you light free them from the darkness around them. Remember, light never runs away from the dark. Hence, don't avoid them; rather be the Jesus they can see, and they will serve the Jesus you see.
