- Strive To Thrive
"I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:14)
Why do we settle for less? Why do we embrace the meager possibility when we could have it all? We convince ourselves by saying we are being content; when in reality we are actually being scared. We accept the normal life, when God has an extra normal one reservations for us. He says all things are yours (1 Corinthians 3:21); then why do we live otherwise?
We claim that it's better than nothing; saying that a living dog is better than a dead lion- and so living an unfulfilled life is better than not living at all. But I disagree. You see, the quote a living dog is better than a dead lion is an excuse of a consolation for mediocrity.
God never called us to live mediocre lives. He says we are the lights of the world, but here we are being comfortable with being just mere sparks. We can be more. We can be a fire; but you have to first get tired of staying as a simple spark.
Many have chosen to accept the normal life, with a plethora of normal events, in a normal company of persons, stirred into motion at a normal pace, thus creating a normal legacy, that dies and is buried with them in a normal grave. What Dr. Myles Munroe call a normal tragedy.
Don't be like them.
Choose to be different. Don't just live to survive, live to thrive. Be a lion who is bound to reign, and not the dog who is bound to limitations by the leash. Jesus is a lion, and His roar still echoes past eternity. His renown hasn't faded because He wasn't seeking longevity, but the fulfillment of purpose. As a result, people live and die, but He stays relevant forever.
You see, it's never truly about how a man dies, but about how he lives; because how you live is the foundation of your legacy. So, as much as long life is good, a well lived life is better.
I want to live so well that I can die without regrets and without any more plans to implement, because I already did it all. I don't just want to get by, I want to unleash my God given potentials so that the very effluents of my actions can pollinate others into the expression of beauty that they must become.
In fact, when the sage originally made that comment about the dead lion, he was referring to our state of gratitude, not our general approach to life endeavors. This is because more is always possible, and God wants us to strive for it.
A lot of people are bound to mediocrity because they love to settle. Please don't. Desire a life that keeps you alive in the hearts of men even when you're gone. Desire a life of impact and maximum living. Tell as many as possible; share it as far as you can, until we all make that decision to get to the culmination of our destiny.
Remember, don't just strive to survive- because that's simply postponing your eventual demise, rather strive to thrive- because that's where true living begins.
