Why We Must Thank God
DAILY VITAMIN
- Why You Must Thank God
"Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will]." (1 Thessalonians 5:18 AMP)
The most important thing in life is not marriage, neither is it greatness, nor wealth, nor your having a lot of wonderful kids, or a good career with awesome giveaways; all these are graciously nice, but individually they do not constitute the most important thing in life.
The most important thing in life is the privilege of life itself; because without life, there wouldn't be any need for a wedding, or a journey to greatness, or more money. Your being alive is the center for the commencement of the accomplishment of these things mentioned.
So, instead of waiting until you get a perfect spouse before you thank God, think again and thank Him for the life you still live. Instead of waiting until you move away from the projects to a million dollar home before you adore Him, thank Him now for the breath that hasn't been ceased from you.
Instead of waiting for your quintuplets, or your 6-digit paying job, thank Him already because you're still fortunate not to have the prefix-'late' added to your title.
As humans, we enclose ourselves in our own little world of myopism, and spiritual naiveté, such that we see the little things as great, and the most important things as nothing; and as a result, err in innumerable ways. Your ability to praise God for a life with nothing, as we would describe it- that is a life without 3 full square meals, or a good air-conditioning system, or in simple terms, the 'Non-Mercedes life'- is a fore-birth to your attainment of a life with so many great things.
For instance, Jesus, at Lazarus' tomb, began by thanking God, not because He gave Him a Bentley, but because He always heard His prayers; a privilege we have so much as 'commonized', and what did He get for that? A risen cardavae.
Hence, let's learn from the perfect example, Jesus, and continue to thank Him even when the skies seem dark; for remember after the dark comes dawn. Thus, don't miss out on the day just because you chose to remain darkened by the dark.
Now is always the best time to thank God. So, Stay thankful always!
