The Love Of Christ

DAILY VITAMIN
- The Love Of Christ
The Ephesian church was always in Paul's prayer; and one of such was that they would know the love of Christ (3:19). To the Christian, this is proportional to praying that they receive the grace to obey God's command just as Christ out of His love for the Father obeyed even to the cross; for the scripture says, And this is ...love...that we keep His commandments (1 John 5:3). But to the non- Christian, it is praying that they receive the Person of Jesus internally so as to live before others as He lived, imparting them as He did, and saving them as He did.
No man can know the essence and extremity of love unless such a man has had Jesus in His passion deep within his heart. Not even Shakespeare who wrote so beautifully of love can live so great a love in reality; but Jesus can because He already did, and so can you, when Jesus is right there within you. "May the Lord bring you into an ever deeper understanding of the love of God" (2 Thessalonians 3:5 TLB).
This, Paul knew, and prayed earnestly that they experience it. The experience of Christ's love for you drives you to want to relish that love on others as well; and such a love is above knowledge and beyond limits. Such a one that keeps you loving even when those you're loving are crucifying you to a post. Such a one that keeps you concerned for others even when no one shows concern for you. Paul had experienced it, and that's why even when he desired to depart to heaven in death quickly, he couldn't help but pray for grace to stay alive just for the purpose that he may prepare others for heaven (Phil 1:23-24).
Just like Paul's desire for the Ephesians, God desire the Christian to develop a burden for the lost, to love regardless of the trials until they are found again in Him. And just so you know, God's love is so extreme that no parameter of size can describe it (V. 18), and that's exactly how God wants us to give it to others- unlimited....for the purpose that we might be filled with all the fullness of God, capable of shining it forth even to those around us (Vs 19).
