DAILY VITAMIN
- Renewed II
In the first episode of this note, we dealt drastically with why we must put away the judgmental attitude, having not been given the ministry to condemn the sinner, but to reconcile him back to God. And in the same light, I believe it's never enough to keep saying it until we start living it. This issue has become of importance to me, because though I may not have a thousand people to speak to about Jesus, but if the single one God gives me I discard, then I am the worst of all men.
This can be seen as a typology of the parable of the talents. Many of us believe we can save a thousand sinners, but that one God laid on our path, we condemn and judge until they are out of God's path of repentance for them. Remember, only the faithful in little provides the confidence that he would also be faithful in much. And that's what Jesus expects of us- to have us saving the least desired that He has placed in our path.
Furthermore, know this: the world does not see Jesus in you by how much scripture you know, but by how much of it that emanates from your daily life. It only sees the Jesus you live. So, rather than continue judging people, thereby showing yourself more of a Pharisee than Jesus Himself, start living as He did- accepting everyone as they are but not leaving them as they are until they meet their best in God. For instance, of everybody in Israel, Jesus set out that day to spend the day with the sinner Zacchaeus. Though the religious people thought it was a bad move from a man they'd supposed should be godly in nature, seeing that they had judged Zacchaeus already with their own eyes of righteousness, but Jesus knew that He went to Zacchaeus not to tamper with, but to deliver from, sin; and it is recorded that that day Zacchaeus was saved (Luke 19:1-10).
You see, the job of the defense attorney isn't to judge the client, but to bring as many alibi that can make the juror and the judge to see more of a reason why the accused should be pardoned and saved; and so if Jesus our saviour and Advocate spends more time interceding for us before the Father (Romans 8:34), I wonder why we spend more time judging each other instead of edifying one another unto redemption. I leave you with this: you can never know how worth-saving that sinner close to you is until you look back at how bad you were before God saved you; and then only would you see hope even in the worst of all men. So, I implore you, look back!
Hence, I'm in no wise suggesting that you meddle with sin, but rather in the spirit of love, that you draw men closer to God, instead of pushing them to the 'world'. Remember that we are renewed. We are exactly as Christ Himself- and Christ didn't judge men in their sin, rather He saved them from their sin; for a sinner saved is much more appealing to God than one condemned......."not willing that any should perish, but that all should come unto repentance" (2 peter 3:9). Let that be your life goal from today: to draw many to God as Jesus still does till date.
