Shake It Off

DAILY VITAMIN
One of the principles of a successful walk with God is the ability to shake it off. Jesus said "In this world you would have tribulations, but be of good cheer, i have overcome the world" (John 16:33). The act of being in good cheer is the process of shaking off every worrisome thought, every sorrow, every discouragement, every disappointment, and every thing that defies the exact word of God to His people. For instance, Paul had just suffered the worst shipwreck of his time, and in the suddenness of his eventual fate, God spoke to him through an angel that none of them were going to be given over to death (Acts 27:23-26). Such a comfort! I can almost imagine Paul basking in the euphoria of this great comfort, only for it to be subverted by the serpent. But notice that immmediately it struck, Paul didn't even bother to consider its opinions, or to negotiate what such omen spells out, he shook it off (Acts 28:5). There would be times when we would have this great awareness of God's goodness to us, then suddenly the serpent's venom of "why you shouldn't believe" appears on the interface of our thought patterns. In such situations, the only way to shove it aside and tread forward with God is by shaking it off. Shake off the thought that God  doesn't care, the thought that spells out all hope is lost. Shake off the discouragements you get, and every imagination that presents God as unable to save you from your ordeal (2 Cor 10:5).
The main aim of the serpent's venom is to keep you tending to your wound until the existence of an injury that never existed begins to become accepted by you. Don't focus on the wound, focus on the healing. Focus on all God has told you, not anything the enemy says afterward. Don't wait for it to get its venom out, shake it off. Jesus' command to be of good cheer tells us that it's finished. All we'd ever need or pray for has been provided. We on our part just have to resist the devil's manipulations, and focus more on God's provision as He's told us. You have the power to end the devil's reign in your life, and also to save yourself the stress of holding the victim's card, all you have to do is shake off that serpent everytime it bites; thus paving a way to the embedded treasures in scriptures that await you in this very reality. Hence, You Would Do Yourself Good If You'd Just Shake It Off!
