We Have a part to play

DAILY VITAMIN
- We Have A Part To Play
There are a lot of misconceptions about how we have little or no responsibility as it pertains to our status with God. While it is true that all we are in God and can ever be was established by Christ even before the world began (see 2 Tim 1:9), it is also pertinent that each of us have a role to play in the sustenance of this peculiar status He has given us grace to attain by faith. Firstly, we are confident of this because Jesus called on all those who are keen to exemplify Him to carry their individual cross. Carrying our cross here depicts our being willing to bear and perform whatever He calls us to do. This is because on the course to the kingdom, obedience is the only transit that takes us closer to its reality. Thus, Obedience is the only means of retaining our place with God, regardless of what He bids us to. As Mary puts it "Whatever He tells you to do, do it". Now, in 2 Tim 1:12, Paul highlighted how it is in the Lord's power to preserve us wholly to His day, yet in verse 14, you'd notice that he also pointed out the necessity of our personal responsibility, and the need to uphold it to have a successful walk with God. He said "Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you- guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us" (NIV). So, while it is impossible to do such without God's help, it is also impossible if we don't commit ourselves to a life that preserves us toward such bliss. Therefore, as a fellow bent on maintaining a perfect walk with God, you have your own role to play in all of these; and this includes the zest to pursue after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness (1 Tim 6:11), until like in the fashion of Enoch, you are found no more living for the flesh, but for the will of the Spirit of the Father. Also, it is important you know that God doesn't just judge our actions, He judges our actions in alignment to His will. That is why despite Phinehas killing the defiled leader, God justified him; as He glorified Jesus' healings even on the sabbath day of rest. What this shows is that, men may not always appreciate how and when you do what you should, but if it fulfils God's will per time, He judges it right. Hence, don't relent on what He calls us toward. Live the life He has set before you the best way you can. Live as though all depends on your keenness to please Him, and trust in His power to keep you as though it all depends on His grace, because it does. But no matter what, never negate the truth that in all of this, you have a part to play, a personal responsibility to uphold. May God help us all. Amen.
