This Is Why You Are Here

DAILY VITAMIN - This Is Why You Are Here “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” Jesus answered. “This came about so that God’s works might be displayed in him.” (John 9:3 CSB) The story of the young man in our theme scripture is fascinating one. He was born with congenital blindness; and that led him to scrap for alms as much as he could. When the friends of Jesus saw this, they asked Him if it was the result of his terrible sins or his parent’s that he was in this position. But Jesus said ‘No’, and then gave them the reason for his current condition as seen in our theme verse. I know many times it is different. For instance, the man who got an STI did so because of his actions often times. However, in this case, God was not attributing this circumstance to anyone’s misdeed, but asserting that it had a divine purpose. Doesn’t it remind you of yourself sometimes? You wonder how your life could have been if your parents were richer, or better; or how others’ lives could hav

Live A Life You Will Remember

DAILY VITAMIN - Live A Life You Will Remember “Don’t hide your light! Let it shine for all; let your good deeds glow for all to see, so that they will praise your heavenly Father.” (Matthew 5:15-16 TLB)                 Sometime in May, a few weeks before my birthday, I received news that a close friend of mine who had been missing for a week had been found dead. He was a great friend, free spirited, and he loved these devotionals just as much as he was always willing to please God as best as he could. When I heard about it, I felt bad, really sad, but then it only made me think about my own life.                 You see, as humans, death is inevitable; we know it will happen, yet when it does, we still always feel down. But should we really feel downcasted if the person in question lived a fulfilled life? Should we really feel like the worst has happened if the person touched so many lives positively? Should we if we know he is bound for a better place? We really shouldn’t, e

Miracles Are Everywhere

DAILY VITAMIN - Miracles Are Everywhere “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.” (Psalm 68:19) CBN once featured a story they called “A Visit to the Steps of Heaven”. It is about an 18 year old girl named Deerinda Lowe whose car got ran over from the top by a semi-truck. The 18 wheeler truck barely missed her head but her arm was badly severed, while her leg was trapped underneath the engine; and for 45 minutes rescue workers struggled to bring her out of the car. She was badly injured internally and externally; and for two weeks the doctors tried all they could to put her back together, having had to be resuscitated twice, whilst she also suffered a massive stroke and went into a coma. With all but little hope to offer. Deerinda wasn’t a Christian at the time, but she said she begged God to save her. She spoke of how she saw God, and how He held her in His arms telling her “It’s okay. You’re fine. You are safe now”. Eve
